  I'm scared and I need help

  for those of you that don't know my story, read my first post here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/122526/1.ashx

  so, i think next week is when i find out if i am approved to be an ms. if not, thank god, but if i am, i'm in deep crap.

  elder dad is confident that i'll accept, but my plan is to try to get out of it by saying that i want to finish school and get an aa degree, at least, before accepting more responsibilities.

  I have two sons about your age going to college. I try to keep the confrontations with them to a minimum, mainly because I don't want them to be sidetracked. Despite what they may occasionally think, they do not have the financial means to move out on their own and get a degree. I emphasize one main thing which is to stay focused and get your degree. One is getting an IT degree. One is getting an engineering degree.

  When they finish school they will enter the job market at a high salary level. They will then have options. Disagreeing with your dad and being right, will not pay the bills. A good education will. Stay focused on getting as high a level a degree as you can whether that is a BA, a Masters or PhD.

  Here are a couple of CD's suggestions:

  Queen Latifah made a jazz CD called the Dana Owens CD which is really, really good

  Alison Krauss sings like an angel, has won over 20 grammy's CD's recommended New Favorite, Forget About It

  How about concert tickets to her favorite performer ?

  For Xmas, I always get her gift certificates from the boys for Bath and Body Works, Borders, Best Buy or Dillards. Dillards (department store like Macy's) is good because then she can go to the after Xmas sales and get what she wants.

  Stuff her Christmas stocking with a bunch of little things that she likes. Perfume, her favorite candy, her favorite flavored coffee. (If she doesn't have a Christmas stocking, then buy a really good one and stuff it full of cool stuff).

  Take the time and get her a nice card or create a homemade one telling her that she is the only woman for you, etc....

  If you have no money, but a lot of heart and a little technical expertise....do a photos to video montage of your life together with appropriate background music (nothing will pull on the heartstrings more).

  After all, if they have the JW teachings as well as my ideals they will have a more rounded viewpoint than 99.9% of thier peers.

  If the assumptions in this statement are correct then you will have well rounded kids. If the assumptions in the statement are incorrect, then you could make the biggest mistake of your life.

  There are approximately 6,000,000 baptized JW's ? You can't include the 5,000,000 dragged kicking and screaming to the annual census memorial.

  6,548,585,307 is the population of the rest of the world.

  If you take a stand (which it sounds like you may be starting to do) and insist that this ritual of disfellowshipping is BS and that you will no longer allow this group to have that power over you, then you will have something in common with approx. 6,548,585,307 people.

  Wanderer I'm not joking or pulling your leg when I say this....throughout my life I have overheard more than once, guys who say that one of the best place to meet women over 30 is in church.

  A lot of "new age" churches that hire professional musicians and have very hip, music oriented services (like nearby Northland Church which has over 3500 members), have lots of group activities and trips, retreats, volunteer programs, singles nights, etc....

  he has been really withdrawn lately, eating less, not interested in sex.

  i thought he was moping because i recently had a birthday party for our young daughter and because of halloween activities.

  I'm sorry to infer that he's manipulative. I should have said his actions are manipulative.

  Manipulative (Websters definition)

  1: to treat or operate with or as if with the hands or by mechanical means especially in a skillful manner
  2 a: to manage or utilize skillfully b: to control or play upon by artful, unfair, or insidious means especially to one's own advantage
  3: to change by artful or unfair means so as to serve one's purpose : DOCTOR

  He is almost sarcastic about my new way of living. He says I'm selfish

  He has been really withdrawn lately, eating less, not interested in sex

  he said that he is depressed and mourning the loss of his wife (me) to this world. He is saddened at the thought of not having me to live forever with (as he put it).

  He says, "Tough."

  My husband has refused to see a doctor regarding the depression.

  And how do you know when manipulation is successful? When it makes the other person question themselves.

  What can I do? I just want him to accept me and my new life. I want to live a happy life together with our girls and a mutual respect for each others ways. Am I being selfish, should I resign myself to living in a stress filled relationship?
